Agro-Livestock Farming System Sustainability during the COVID-19 Era: A Cross-Sectional Study on the Role of Information and Communication Technologies

In the near future, year 2050, agricultural production should expand to fulfill needs of approximately 9.7 billion inhabitants. Such an objective be harmonized with social, economic, and environmental sustainability aspects maintain safe food security worldwide. For more than a year, COVID-19 pandemic has raised is still strongly disrupting agro-livestock sector, similar several other economic sectors. this relationships between suppliers, producers, consumers always continue activity chain, which are impaired by social distancing decisions taken following emergence pandemic. study, global cross-sectional survey (translated into four languages: Arabic, English, French, Spanish) was shared people belonging sector identify: (1) role information communication technologies (ICTs) in farming systems during period pandemic, (2) need for such (3) factors that affect use technologies. The results showed most frequently used ICTs were media (Facebook and/or WhatsApp; 27.3%) online platforms Internet services (26.3%), whereas robotic vehicles drones (6.6%) less used. During major reasons impacting systems’ (30.0%), shortage labor (17.7%), maintaining precision farm management (14.8%), product marketing (14.2%), access inputs (7.2%), others (16.1%). Applying solved many obstacles related process, as (25.6%), (23.6%), subgroup analyses considering degree country advancement, size agribusinesses, role/position respondents highlighted importance supporting use, availability, awareness at least some groups those belong developing countries, laborers, small-scale agri-business holders.
